Organizational structure

The CENOF Research Study is a multi-site study which needs elaborated management strategies harking back to a well-decided organizational structure of the entire study, as well as to assessable infrastructures of each site (see Figure 1).

Figure 1. Organizational structure of the GENOF Research Study (light blue circles represent positions requested from the Jacobs foundation)

The CENOF Research Study provides a two-level organization i.e., at the network level and at the project level (Figure 1). Each single project will be supervised by one of the principal CENOF members. Because Project III (supervised by Harald A. Euler) and Project VI (supervised by Julius Kuhl) will be carried out in Vienna and its surroundings, both colleagues will be hosted at the Department of Developmental Psychology providing them with the working conditions that they need to meet the study requirements.

On the network level, the study is generously supported by the University of Vienna where the headquarters of CENOF Research Study will take up residence. The headquarter provides positions for the research organization, the data management as well as for the project controlling of the finances. Because of the sophisticated technical equipment which will be used to assess paternal time investment, videotapes will be processed through software-based computers etc. However, we will need additional technical support.

The projects will be supported by seven Ph.D. awards and other types of support from the Jacobsfoundation. However, each project also declared means to bring in, so that we are able to match the budget.

In order to cross-link the single project and to make use of synergies between these research pieces, some activities are required on the network level: (i) The CENOF group need to gather in the form of a supervisor meeting, once a year, plus an additional meeting at the beginning of the first year when assessments need to be shared, substantiated and adjusted. (ii) Trainings and summer schools will be needed for young scientists to develop skills to meet research requirements. (iii) Small subgroups will be working on special methods investigating defined research problems. (iv) We also plan to attend handpicked international conference, altogether as a platform to present the first outcomes.
